“To love what you do and know that it matters, what could be anymore fun?” -Katherine Graham
God is good, all the time! All the time, God is good! I have been blessed with the distinct pleasure of being named the new Executive Director of Cambridge Christian School in Cambridge, Minnesota
God is Good – All The Time!
While I am not a pastor, priest or deacon, faith is deeply rooted within our family. I believe that we have plans in our lives and God simply laughs and reminds us that He is all knowing and a gracious God.
My name is Mr. Darin Carney and I have come to Cambridge Christian School through one of the most unlikely of paths you may ever hear. I am a son, brother, father, uncle, coach, teacher, mentor, professor, principal, head of school and now a world traveler. My wife Bobbi and I recently took a large step in our lives and traveled to China for one year to work in a Christian International School in Shenzhen, China amongst 17 million inhabitants. Wow! We have been blessed to travel the world and learn from people literally around the globe. I was the Head of School in Shenzhen and Bobbi was the Head of English Department and Director of Curriculum. We enjoyed our experience but also knew we missed home, the United States, and our family. A world apart, CCS came calling and we found each other truly through the grace of God; there is no other explanation.
My wife Bobbi was born in the Twin Cities (I’ll leave the year off). I am a native of Denver, Colorado and the two of us have been together over 30 years and will celebrate our 28th wedding anniversary on June 30. We have three boys (young men) although still boys to us. Kyle is our oldest and is in the business and finance world, doing quite well. Kelyn is our second son and he is a senior in college and in the midst of completing his first novel, wow! Keaton is our youngest and will be a sophomore in college and will be playing lacrosse at Benedictine College, just outside of Kansas City. We are proud of all three of course, and glad to be home near our boys and family. Professionally, I have been in education since 1990 and have been an administrator since 1995 in Colorado. I have worked in a variety of settings and was actually afforded the opportunity to open a brand new school in 2009-10.
I am so excited to join the CCS community as a whole. I have felt and heard, the passion and commitment to this school and community from everyone with whom I have had the pleasure of speaking. I also understand the mission and overall goals of the school, and I promise to bring integrity, open-mindedness, two open ears, bright eyes, full heart, passion, drive, energy and the determination to succeed every single day. As the quote above states, there is not much better in life than being able to do what you love for a living and know that it matters. To me, that is the overall goal and belief that I have for our staff, students and community. Everyday is truly a gift. That gift is ours to behold in our minds and hearts. Also, it is ours to grab with all the gusto we can muster and make every day great! My wife used to say something to the boys (& to me) EVERY single day before we would leave for school. “Choose to succeed today.” I love it! It is simple, easy to remember, to the point and ultimately leaves it up to each of us, every single day. Thank you for the warm welcome I have received from the Board and I look forward to meeting everyone in the community and working with you every day. I am eager and excited to continue the excellence that is Cambridge Christian School. Go Warriors!
